ENGAGING IN AMERICAN CIVICS FOR THE 21st CENTURY
(Written in 2002)
It’s here! And it’s happening now!
We The People: It’s time to get empowered!
Today, the internet enables people to take direct action and make a difference in the world. Across our nation, individual power is growing rapidly as the internet continues to reach more people every day. This is powerful. It is very powerful. And it is having significant political consequences.
No longer do traditional power brokers and media pundits dominate the mainstream political discourse. No longer do conventional party operatives override taxpayers' concerns to suit their own self-interest. Access to power is no longer an exclusive privilege controlled solely by the politically connected. Today, they are all remnants of past machine politics. Today, we are all politically connected!
Now that power is everywhere, opportunities for self-organization, grassroots, and local collaboration are growing, creating communities focused on issues directly affecting their interests. The political DINOs and RINOs are upset. They no longer hold dominance. They are losing influence. Democracy can flourish, and the will of the people can succeed.
The fate of community prosperity now rests with concerned citizens and activists worldwide. Such remarkable developments are compelling people to take direct action. We must act! Either learn to participate in the political process and secure prosperity. Or remain complacent and be forced to survive in the intentionally distracting chatter of contemporary politics. It’s up to us! Yes, it’s up to us!
The economic impact is huge. Wall Street and corporate America are thriving. To succeed, everyone feels forced to invest in the stock market. Wealth is growing rapidly for the very few at the top. It is being accumulated through unfairness and coercion through inequity.
However, these political effects have continued since the 1970s. And it's worsening. Additionally, everyone seeking political power is focused on how technology continues to reshape the political scene. It is inspiring, overwhelming, and incredible!
Yet the balance of power will mainly favor those who equip themselves with the civic resources needed to organize like-minded citizens and take direct action. That’s the purpose of ACP. Please explore its contents to become empowered and advance democracy.
