AMERICAN CIVIC POWER
Demand Democracy

Welcome to the American Civic Party.
We declare the inception of the American Civic Party, a new political movement rooted in a simple, enduring conviction: American democracy must be demanded, strengthened, and expanded so that every citizen’s voice carries weight in the halls of power. This is not a moment for timidity but a call to purpose, a renewed commitment to the ideals on which our republic was founded, and a practical plan to restore accountability to our government.
The purpose of this organization and its public-facing platform is to mobilize the support of American democracy. Our democracy is strongest when the will of ordinary Americans drives public policy, not the other way around. The Electoral College, as it currently functions, has become at odds with the principle of one person, one vote. It is time to reimagine how we elect our president so that every citizen’s ballot translates into an equal and direct share of electoral power.
We also confront a critical challenge to the integrity of our political system: the influence of money in politics. The 2010 Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court, and subsequent court decisions, have allowed corporate money to flood campaigns, distorting representation and incentivizing policymakers to prioritize corporate and special interests over the public good. To restore trust and accountability, we must confront and reform the mechanisms that enable unaccountable spending to shape public policy.
Our platform calls for concrete reforms designed to strengthen democracy and reduce the distortions of moneyed influence. Specifically, we advocate for the abolition of the Electoral College in favor of a one-person, one-vote system for presidential elections. We advocate for the repeal of Citizens United to restore integrity to campaign finance and curb the influx of opaque “dark money.” We support the adoption of ranked-choice voting and proportional representation to ensure that elections for Congress more accurately reflect the diverse preferences of the electorate.
Article 1 of our Constitution states that Congress is delegated to represent the American people directly. Yet, in recent decades, developments have produced an arrangement that often appears misaligned with the will of ordinary citizens. The aim of the American Civic Party is to rectify this misalignment by empowering voters, increasing civic participation, and demanding governance that prioritizes the public interest over private advantage.
We recognize a broad concern voiced by many observers that modern governance is increasingly oriented toward privatization of public services. If, in the view of many observers, the power elite in Washington seeks to privatize essential public functions for corporate gain, then our response must be to reassert democratic control over critical functions of government, uphold accountability, and ensure that public goods remain publicly governed where necessary to protect the common good.
This movement is not merely about critique; it is about organizing for a constructive alternative. Projecting a forward-looking agenda, we seek to build a political system in which policy decisions are guided by transparent data, accountable institutions, and genuine public deliberation. Our aim is to nurture a healthier democratic culture in which citizens are informed, engaged, and empowered to participate meaningfully in the political process.
We, the People, must demand democracy by harnessing all our civic resources. We will empower every voter to participate in the American political process through education, outreach, and collaboration. We will encourage like-minded and concerned individuals to organize, convene, and unite—transforming the current political landscape into a paradigm that truly reflects the will and welfare of the people.
Thank you for visiting our platform and for sharing in this vision. We must demand democracy—and together, we will build a government that serves all Americans, fairly and transparently.
